Lou, thanks for the input. I am not really on the lookout for a new horn but I did play an old Hüttl Silver Colibri once upon a time and really liked the blow and sound - it has a solid nickel silver bell with a diameter similar to the Geneva horns, which is why I have a recurring interest in nickel silver bells with large flares. Not very rational, I know ...
Thanks, Andreas

Hi Andreas

You are very welcome.

No, I'm not either.

I'm not sure to be honest how much the nickel silver bell changes the feel/sound in isolation, not having tried different bell materials with the same trumpet/cornet body. Regarding the Geneva Oldroyd Cardinal cornet, whose specifications are below, I didn't think that it played particularly differently or sounded that different to be honest, to my yellow brass belled Xeno cornet in lacquer. It did however look rather pretty

Specifications of Geneva Oldroyd Cardinal Cornet bell:
125mm (4.9") Hand Hammered Rose Brass Bell with Nickel Silver Flare,

Thanks, Andreas

You are very welcome.

Take care

Lou

If you do decide to buy one it would be worth speaking to the lady who runs Duchy Brass. She gets a lot of the Geneva ex-demo instruments and might be able to save you a bt of money:
