Unbelieveable! Ten days after a 7 1/2 hour lumbar fusion procedure I'm back on the horn with little loss of tone or range. Only doing ten minute sessions throughout the day so not sure about set-long endurance yet but, man, this is encouraging.
To be fair, I'm not taking it much above the staff but I think I'll be back up to the Cs and Ds I need for my band in a week or so.
The reason for the quick comeback I think is the biking and twice-weekly core workouts I was doing for two years prior to surgery. That and a pretty sensible lifestyle. The body is pretty much like any machine: you take care of it and it will perform better. _________________ Jim Hatfield

It's been 16 weeks since my 3-level lumbar fusion and everything is going really well. I work out seven days a week - two with a trainer - lots of flexibility exercises and stretching.
I've even started playing golf again.
I'm also playing in three bands and having more fun than ever. So if anyone tells you it's impossible to return to a normal - make that better than normal life - after major surgery don't believe them, prove them wrong! _________________ Jim Hatfield

That's AWESOME to hear. It's amazing how the human body can recover even with such an invasive procedure.
You must have had a very skilled surgeon you were very comfortable with.
Happy for you, keep it up....and some prayers for a speedy recovery never hurt either!! |

Thanks! Yeah, the whole medical team was terrific! All from Northwestern Medicine and Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. Five stars! _________________ Jim Hatfield
