I find it hard to generalize about Mt. Vernon mpcs. I have four 7Cs and they are all different. One is a real dog. Another one is pretty good. The other two I need to find. That is to say, if you get a Mt. Vernon, and it stinks, get another one. Nobody seems to want the 7Cs and smaller models. Some models were revised. I have a NY 6C that has nothing in common with modern examples except, strangely enough, the diameter. We usually don't know the history of these mouthpieces, so they could have been one off custom made models, or modified by the previous owner(s). I know this just makes the water muddier, but as the other posters said, if you like it, play it. |
