I think Mark Hughes (currently in Houston, I believe; formerly in Atlanta) was marching at Northwestern when I was there. Been a long time and I could be mistaken ... (I often am).
What marching band has had the most principal trumpets? And would that be a plus or a minus??
There is an award for best college marching band called the Sudler Trophy. So, technically, this is the best band this year.....
Sudler trophy means nothing, it's more of a formality, I believe LSU won one recently, and there is NO WAY they were the best. I am fairly sure no school has ever won back to back, maybe not even more that once. That should tell you something right there. I am not 100% but i think the judging is based on popularity, not any actual criteria or rubric.
Check out their website, and let me know how they handle the live marching band competition ha!
Jackson State University has the best trumpet section by far, Southern comes after them I guess
And Flodrida Agricultural and Mechanical Univerity(FAMU) has the best overall band, 450+ deep and I an still hear the woodwinds, amazing.
With Bethune Cookman University in second cause they always have a close battle in the Florida Classic every year.
Here's my vote...my Alma Mater from years ago. _________________ SSG Laurence Dean

The Sudler trophy can only be handed out to a school once. That is why you don't see anyones name on their twice. _________________ "The harder I work, the luckier I get."

So who has the better Marching Band: Curtis or Juilliard? What are your thoughts?
Zen Koan - what is the sound of a concept flying overhead?
And if the sound is not heard was it sent?
Anyway, my vote goes to Vassar College. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird
