Oh yea! Speaking of which, last year a bunch of us got together after the hang at a nice local restaurant. Can't remember the name of it though. I'd be amiable to that again, or Portillo's. |

I was really looking forward to it, again, too. Have fun--gonna miss everyone.

No worries: if Zack is there (among a few others) it'll be covered—besides Zack and I made the observation last year, that the G/DHC is actually the new black.

Oh yes, Zack, of course. As for the G above Double High C (the highest note I've ever played, and could only do when the wind was blowin' in the right direction), being the new black, I guess I'll have to be unfashionable. But really, it doesn't fit in that spot where all the high school trumpet players like to (try to) paste a High C. Guess it has to do with the resolution of the chord to the root kind of thing. I think a good DHC is needed there (the neighbors might defer in their opinions).
What mouthpiece to you use when playing in the community band? |

I use the Legends version of the Ferguson-Bell mpc: Narrow V-cup, but relatively deep. I get a really nice warm tone from it when paired with my Gansch Horn—I find I can also color the sound just about anyway I need to.
For me, anyway, since switching exclusively to narrow v-cups about two years ago, my playing has vastly improved, and I'm doing things, now, that I never could before. _________________ Adam Velez

Alfie's Inn. You'd have to hold a gun to my head before I'll go in Portillo's.

Alfie's is a real restaurant with very good food.
Portillo's is cheap crap fast food.
If you want to go Portillo's, no one is stopping you. The rest of us are going to Alfie's.

To anyone planning to attend...do you have a Monette B6S1 in any configuration that I could try? I have three different B4S S2 models but they are too big. I want to see if the B6S1 is a better fit.
Thanks |

I love Portillo's! But I'd never hold a gun to your head - too much of a gentleman to do that! Besides I can always go to the Portillo's near me. |

Why can’t we go to both? I thought being bigger helps in playing trumpet. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.

Those who want to go to Portillo's can go for lunch before the hang. Alfie's is traditionally afterwards.
Everyone wins!

Glen Ellyn has had the worst Spring in years with snow on the ground as late as April 19th but the forecast for the Hang on Sunday, April 29, is temp in the low 60s with scattered showers.
Other good news: a new eatery - Mission BBQ at Butterfield and Finley Road - is terrific! _________________ Jim Hatfield

If anybody attending owns a Purviance 5*3 and/or 4*3 mouthpiece (or the equivalent RP9A and RP9 models) I'd sure appreciate it if you would bring it/them to the Hang. Two TH members kindly loaned me 5*K4 and 4*K4 models to try but they are too small in diameter for me. I'd love to try the larger two models as they have rims that were the basis for the Reeves 43 rim which I normally play on. I want to try the Purviance versions because the alpha angle is a little lower on them compared to the Reeves and I think that might help with the one issue I have with the Reeves 43 rimmed mouthpieces (a little trouble with clean articulations in the lower to mid registers).
Thanks!
