But what if a thread containing false information comes up on a day when the entire Getzen workforce is tooling around on tractors behind the factory? No one will be around to notice it and supply a correction!

Over the last few days, I've read a number of comments excreted by CK about 'Greedy" manufacturers and their middlemen. He named a company and it's head in this rant that I've supported through purchases for more than 20 years. I believe as a customer, I've been well supported by this company. Because of their customer service model, accessability and support of their products well beyond any warranty, I will continue to buy their products. I have had a great relationship with a music store who sold me all of these horns. If I believed the prices these products were not offered were not fair, I wouldn't endorse them or repeatedly buy from them.
I suspect that CK has no experience with this or any other company other than opening their webpages and gleaning some information about their products. I believe he is a breathing, typing fraud who has been of little benefit to the TH community as a whole and the trumpet community at large.
I have spent a career defending the democratic ideal. I believe that even the most wrong minded should have an opportunity to step up on the soapbox/tree stump and let their voice be heard. I do not believe anyone has the right though, to disparage another with fraudulent or unsubstantiated comments and claims.

Oliver,

Capt.Kirk is only blowing smoke! His credibilty has always been questionable at best, but he does appear to have supporters who think he is a person "in the know" about all he espouses.

It is sad that he uses the TH forum to "spew out" things you are talking about, but I suspect there will be those supporters of Capt.Kirk who will stand by him even when he maligns reputable people and businesses.
I believe that is sad indictment in itself.

Best wishes, Oliver!

I once asked the moderators to ban him from this site.
Unfortunately he does nothing wrong, according to the rules of this site.

came,l,

I have noticed that the good Captain can malign vendors, manufacturers and suppliers and a good share of "nit picking" about brass instrument building, repair and restoration. Some of his comments appear to be over the top, but the moderators appear to be comfortable with that.

However, the moderators (and others) don't like it when Capt.Kirk is picked on for his views even when they appear to be wrong or without merit.

He is free to "cruise the galaxies" and continue to post some unbelievable stuff.

Best wishes,

Lloyd

Just in the last couple days, the "quality" of the trolling bait has really been upped in at least one specific thread. And the fishes are biting nicely. He literally managed to include all the possible angles to get various schools of fishes interested in the bait. From what I can tell, the waters will literally be frothing in the next few days.

Whatever you do, keep feeding the troll, so it will never end.

/sigh

Some are masters at baiting, I suppose.

Then again, sometimes I think the good ol' Captn enjoys yanking a few chains.
