Anyone know where I could find this CD? Doesn't seem to be available anywhere. Thanks for any help...am working on the Arutunian Concerto and understand that this is the definitive recording. _________________ Sharks Hockey Fan

Go to amazon.com, search for "trumpet rhapsody" and you'll find a copy (as I write this). Or go to http://www.tapmusic.com, search for "dokshitser" and you'll find a recording of the concerto in the listing. |

If that doesn't work, you can order another great Dokschitzer Arutunian recording on the album he did for ITG (called Russian Treasures?...I think). You can order this directly from ITG.

Thanks for the help. I tried the Amazon site and when I clicked on "Add to my Cart" it said it was no longer available. (Probably someone on this board read your replies and got to it before me )
Anyway, I went to Borders and they said they do not have it in their warehouse but may be able to order it from RCA records.... so I'm waiting to see if they can do that. If anyone finds another copy available, please post the information here as they did not sound very promising. After hearing from Borders I will follow up on the ITG suggestion. Thanks again. _________________ Sharks Hockey Fan

Well I never did find the CD but instead I purchased one recorded by Sergei Nakariakov. I realize the Arutunian Concerto was written for Dokschitzer, however Sergei plays it beautifully. Once I am as good as Sergei (like never ), I will resume my search for the Dokschitzer recording so that I may improve even more. Thanks for all the suggestions. _________________ Sharks Hockey Fan

Just got the Dokschitzer T R CD from Amazon (about $12 used). What a fabulous sound--except sometimes the vibrato is more than I'm used to). Thanks for mentioning him so I could discover this! |

I too used to shy away from his playing because of the vibrato. But I, as i think all serious players will/have, came around REAL fast! I hardly listen to anyone else these days. Does anyone know of a readily available recording of him playing the Bohme Concerto? |

"Does anyone know of a readily available recording of him playing the Bohme Concerto?"
Sure, on the Marcophon label. The CD is called, "Russian Concert" and the CD number is CD7008. Tap Music http://www.tapmusic.com/ has this title and about all the other Marcophon CDs.
Be sure to keep an eye on Ole Utnes' excellent website for current and future CD releases by Dokshizer.

PS - Here's a clip from an excerpt of the concerto Dokshizer made years ago for a pedagogical record:
