Is there a connection between doing a drill in one breath and improving your range? I just noticed this because an earlier post said that book 3 of the Colin book is for range. These drills are to be played in one breath. Also in the Clarke book, most of the drills are to be played in one breath. In the beggining of the book, it says these drills are for endurance and range. Is there a connection between the two? I'm sure someone on the board could explain this. Thanks!! _________________ - Mike

Well... one connection I see when doing the "1 breath drills" and upper register playing is the amount of air that you take in and blow out are very large amounts. It does make sense, because you need to take in a lot of air to play long passages without a breath and you also need a lot of air in playing in the upper register. Any other ideas? _________________ J. Fowler
