I'm about to receive my D/Eb trumpet, and am wondering what music should I get...and where from?! I've not had much luck on the internet. I'd appreciate it. I'd like to find things like Pachabel's Canon, Tpt. Voluntary, Tpt. Tune, Haydn, Hummel....and anything else that would be good to have.

Thanks in advance!

SheetmusicPlus

Sheet Music Service of Portland

Robert King Music

Between those four vendors, you can find most anything if you use their respective in-site search engines correctly (aside: I've become convinced that I'm too dumb to properly use JW Pepper's advanced search engine). Robert King in particular specializes in music for brasses.

Check out posts on wedding music, baroque music, etc. The Wallace-Head books include D trumpet parts (they have a couple on weddings, plus another on Christmas music, etc.) I've seen a number of "classical" pieces which include D parts; fewer with Eb (have to learn to transpose).

Here's one thread: http://www.trumpetherald.com/forum/viewtopic.php?topic=4782&forum=11

What Eb/D are you getting? I'm sure you'll have a great time with it. Eb is a lot of fun to play, and I love getting new horns...

For Eb, try the Concerto by Neruda, and Concertino by Sachse (I'm probably spelling that incorrectly).

For D, start with certain baroque solos, including Handel's "The Trumpet Shall Sound" and "Let the Bright Seraphim." Also easier concertos by Torelli are nice for D.

It's a 1981 Bach Strad D/Eb with a 239 bell in absolutely pristine condition. It's a beautiful horn, and I can't wait to break it in and get comfortable with it! I like the sound on it based on the little bit I've gotten to play it today.
