Correct me if I am wrong, but I've never seen a music stand made for trumpeters. Especially for a Jazz Musician or even for a "legit" player, how comes there isn't a music stand that has a place to put your mutes?
I mean, for plungers, you can just hang them on the corners, but what about harmons, and straights and cups?
I don't like to put mutes on the groud, because I fear of stepping on them and tripping, and when I put them on my chair behind me, I usually forget and sit on it. Lets see, I've had a harmon, a cup and a straight shoved up my *u know what*. And lemme tell you, the Harmon has a thick end but its lazer sharp and can get a mark around, while the cups are thinner and can penatrate deep.
Not very pleasant experiences. So, could someone please design a music stand where I can put my 3 main mutes on the stand and not up my *cough*.
Just my 2 cents on music stands. |

Not a stand, but I have a nifty thing called a "Mute Master." The product website seems to be down, but Dick Akright seems to carry them at A&G Music in Oakland -- pictures and descriptions at:

You might be interested in this contraption: http://www.oldtrumpet.com/
Clamps right on your music stand and comes in varieties holding 3, 4, and 7 mutes. _________________ --Matt--

Yeah, if I had my mutes at near-playing level, I could change them quicker and wouldn't worry about how hard I set them on the floor |

You might want to check out the Mute Rack. It's cheap, strong, holds 4 mutes and adjusts from about 25 to 40 inches so you can use it sitting or standing.
