I was just wondering if there is a GR model that is as close to a Schilke 14A4A. I play the schlke for lead and thoughta nice new GR piece that is very similar would be nice. _________________ ---Brian Vessey---

Sorry, no answer to your question, but maybe you can help me?
What is the difference between the Schilke 14A4a and the GR 67M? or can anyone compare the Schilke to a 67MS or S? |

While the 67 series and the 14 series share teh approximate cup diameter. the Schilke is very shallow and had a tight backbore. The M is pretty close to a Bach C cup as far as I know the MX or L cups might be closer. I'm not sure of the backbores on the GR models. I use the 67M for everyday use, but would like a GR for lead use. _________________ ---Brian Vessey---

The GR 66 series diameter is usually closest to the 14A4a cup diameter. GR measures the cup diameter at two points. You can find this info on the GR website. Where does Schilke take their measurements? That is one thing to consider when comparing mouthpiece specs.
The closest GR Models to 14A4a are 66Z**, 66Z*, and Macaluso 65.6S. The 66Z** is closest as it has a high alpha angle, soft bite, and small cup volume. The 66Z* has slightly more bite to the rim. The 65.6S has a small volume but a lower alpha angle. All three models have been enthusiastically accepted by 14A4a players.
The 67 Series will feel slightly wider than the 14A4a Schilke. This is ballpark as one 14A4a may not be the same as the next.
The GR 67L is closest to the Bach 1 1/2C. I have fitted Schilke 15A4a players with the GR 67S and they were quite happy. I hope this helps.
