A review of Tim Wendt's Trumpet Lead Pipe Swab

Sustained note

I ordered the chamois trumpet lead pipe swab from Tim Wendt and got it in only one week. That's very quick (halfway across the globe).
The swab is very well made, exactly as advertised.
I tried it according to Tim's instructions. It's simple and easy to use.

It is very easy to thread through the tuning slide which I left connected to the lead pipe. You must thread from that end (near the bell) and not from the receiver side!
The weights inside the cord make it a breeze to tread. After only a couple of inches inside, you tip the trumpet with the receiver end down, bell up and the cord moves in when you keep inserting it, due to the weights, until the weight side exits from the receiver. It's long enough to thread through lead pipe and tuning slide together.
I swabbed twice to make sure it works well and it works like a charm.
It'll do the job of removing moisture and any particles after each playing session.

I am very happy with this purchase and will recommend it to any trumpet player. Thank you Tim.

How often do you have to clean the swab and how many times can you clean it before you need a new one?

I doubt if a better product for the money can be found. It just keeps on cleaning and cleaning.

The one I used before Tim's model only lasted 2 uses before it broke.

This one looks to be pretty durable. Not saying it's going to last forever, because that's just riduculous, but it's quite good.

It would probably stay cleaner longer if you cleaned the horn and used it on a regular basis to keep the horn clean, right?

I'll end up buying one of these very soon I'm sure.

Works great, it took me just a bit of practice to get the hang of working it through the leadpipe; I sort of jiggle and move the horn a bit.

I'd also like to say how nice it was to order from Tim. My original order seemed to have been lost, it was VERY delayed. In the meantime, he went ahead and sent another one out free of charge. The original finally showed up a couple weeks later, so now I have 2
