Does anyone out there know anything about a Holton "Stratadyne" model? It is a combination of silver and brass and has a first valve trigger with fixed ring on the third slide.
Thanks...Elliott

I may be wrong, but I think Elliot was referring to the horn in this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2549045959&category=16214&rd=1. I just won the horn for $355. Do you guys think that that's a decent deal? I know it's worn cosmetically, but I'm more interested in how it sounds than how it looks. Plus, the lacquer has faded in a really cool way, giving it a lot of character. Plus, Don Lee says that his Stratodyne has the best valves he has ever felt on a horn. (any comments on the price I paid, Don?) However, the coolest thing about this horn is that it's about 1200 away from my Holton Super Collegiate, serial #-wise. So I think that's pretty great; they possibly came off the assembly line in the same week (both in 1956).

Any and all comments are welcomed...

Oliver

Yes, I do . I have one . Mine was bought for me by my Dad,
back in the fifties.
He bought from a pro here in town.
It was a good horn, sort of a copy of a Bch Mt. Vernon, I think.
I still have mine , although it needs a new Bell.
I used to play it one Dixie gigs.
