1. Practice softly
2. Rest often
3. The pencil excercise works
4. A clean horn plays better
5. If your older horn doesn't respond as desired, it's either loose valves, improper mouthpiece gap, or dirty/wrong leadpipe
6. A modern horn is probably going to play better than an older horn, unless the vintage instrument has been overhauled
7. Some mouthpieces really are better than others
8. Concentration is king
9. Relaxing helps big time
10. Most of the posters on TH have either good questions or good answers, and both can be helpful _________________ Jim Hatfield

14. All trumpet players are equipment junkies, which is why the Horns Forum gets more hits than the Fundamentals Forum. If we can't afford it, we can always discuss it. |

What's wrong with ZeuS trumpets? I was thinking about getting the Zeus G whenever I managed to get some cash. |

I don't think there's anything wrong with the horns themselves (in fact most of the reports on the horns are fairly positive), rather it's Alex's unique "approach" that's at issue...

It's not that Zeus horns are bad... I have heard much more positive things about them than I have negative things... it's just that no matter how innocent a Zeus thread starts... it always ends in a fight..... _________________ J. Fowler

17. Even passing references to Zeus trumpets will cause any thread to abruptly turn into a discussion of them. (Just be thankful there's no Greek Mythology Forum...) |

Did anyone mention ZeuS ?
ZeuS horns are not bad??? Give you head a shake.
Well, you already know by now that they are a world class professional trumpet that will blow your socks off and will also make you feel like a thief because you can get one for only $950. This is unheard of and nothing else will compete. Oh, and don't forget to put them up against any other trumpet you come across.
The 11 different finishes are way cool as well.
Are you ready for the new Antique Brushed Silver? I should get it in soon.
Also, don’t forget about the amazing ZeuS G Flugel and Cornet either.
My “unique approach”?
I am glad you like it. I would not have it any other way. Its because I am so excited about these instruments, I just can’t control myself.
Just to get things going here, I recently had a nice family visit my shop from CA to road test some ZeuS and they told me that at music camp almost every kid had a silver Bach. First I got sick to my stomach about all that ignorance and said some nasty words about band directors who sell most Bachs. Then after thinking about it, I thought, how appropriate. It’s the perfect student horn, except for the price which should be around $500 at the most. I really feel sory for those kids.

We are trumpet players - we don’t need to count!
19) Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Unless it is different from yours, then they are wrong!
20) You will never get trumpet players to agree on anything. |

Hi trumpetmike,
I agree with you on #19, therefore, your #20 is wrong. LOL

2.Finally found I teacher whom I ‘’Connect with’’

8.Practice out of the Arban’s and Clark Technical studies
9.You can make a career out of playing your trumpet in the military.
10.When you practice don’t Free play and Goof around for your entire practice time. Discipline yourself and practice properly.

Ten things I've learned:
1. The importance of breathing
2. Pressure is for making diamonds out of coal.
3. The importance of regimented, focused, short practice sessions.
4. Pedal tones work to keep throat open, reduce pressure playing
and keep my chops supple.
5. Double pedal tones work too.
6. There is no easier, softer way; the corners have to be set.
7. There is a difference between speed and volume of air.
8. I do have the right gear, am using the right books, am on the
right path. The road to the top is varied ... the view from the
top is the same.
9. Use a mirror when I practice.
10. It should be for the love of the music.
Thanks for all of the lessons TH members have shared with me.
