Don't get me wrong I loved the ZeuS and I was always one of it's big supporters. I would have put the ZeuS up against any pro horn that I had played up un til now. I bought the ZeuS over a Yammie Zeno because the ZeuS was the better horn to me. As of recent though I bought the 68 Silver Flair which is a larger bore horn and is much more open. I also love the tone. I am not a pro and do not need two horns so I am selling the ZeuS.

Do yourself a favor and keep the ZeuS. Even if you aren't a pro, there will come a time where you are going to be in a playing situation where you really wish that you had the playing characteristics of the ZueS and you won't have it because you sold it.

I once had a Yamaha 739T and I kick myself all the time for getting rid of it. It was a good horn, but I sold it because I didn't use it much and didn't feel that I needed it anymore. I wish I still had it because it would be and awesome horn for the kind of playing that I do now.

I agree with Patrick. I have sold horns that I didn't think I needed anymore only to wish later I had them back. Of course there is also the problem of becomming a horn packrat.

Don't get me wrong, that is not the worst hobby to have.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

I agree with the others!

I sold an Olds Recording many years ago to buy an Olds Opera (large bore) ... and kicked myself for years.

But, of course, since I'm also a horn packrat I have returned a Recording to my collection ...

Keep the Zeus.

For $800, it had better made one darned good lamp.

Seriously, chetbfan, if you can afford to hold on to the ZeuS, I think you ought to, as a back-up horn.

You should hang onto the ZeuS ... it's a great horn and a time will come when you will
want that feel and sound. If you can handle it financially you couldn't go wrong keeping
both horns.

I think just because you don't like the guy yourself, you don't need to be encouraging people to get rid of the horn romey. I think this thing over alex is totally ridiculous and people should buy or not buy the damn horns for the horns themselves and not for the makers. If your closest friend made a horn out of a pop can and some copper tubing, would you play it because that person is your best friend? Total retardation.

Wax,

No I wouldn't play a bad horn even if my friend made it - I only play pro horns.

Just remember who you are supporting when you buy a Zeus.........

Maybe Alex would buy it back and sell it as used. Just an idea. I am sure he could not give you what you payed but it might be worth a shot.

I've seen it romey, who cares, you dont need to continually post that. I'm beginning to think you like that picture. Anyway what I'm saying is that if it goes one way then why not the other?

TopGun,

I like your optimism, but remember, if you buy a horn from this guy and you are 5 minutes over the trial period, you're stuck with the horn.

Look on the bright side, you can always make a lamp! (no pun intended)

OK, Alex bashers, connect the dots for me.

How does keeping the ZeuS support the evil Alex? Or is the contention that the horn is somehow tainted with the trumpet equivalent of original sin? If so, isn't selling the horn passing the evil on to someone else?

Or are the ZeuS horns like the famed fictional car Christine? ("I am Christine. I am pure evil.") Perhaps the trumpet should just be melted and chemically separated into its constituent metals. Then we can grind the base metals into a powder. Then we can stomp on the dust.

Or, the lamp thing ... like I said, for $800, it had better be a darned good lamp.

Any rational reason chetbfan shouldn't keep the horn? Other than finances?

This is why all of the Zeus's must be destroyed, just like Damian needed to be destroyed in the OMEN, OMEN 2, and Finally OMEN 3:The Final Conflict.
