My teacher asked me to try a piece "blind" (without seeing the stamp on it). After playing a 3C for years, I was immediately taken aback at my response and tone. I thought it was actually smaller and/or shallower than the 3c until I saw it.
I have large lips and I think that's why I feel better on it. This, combined with my new X3 gives me a HUGE sound. The upper registe rtakes more effort, but I figure I can go back to the 3C for lead or high work. |

I tried that next. It was even more open, but it took a lot to maintain the sound above the staff. |
