Any comments on Bob Reeves stock solid shanks that are so fat that they leave a huge gap to the leadpipe? I have to have mine cut down to get closer.

Reeves standard one piece models is the #4 shank size. They have a sleeve sysrem that allows you to adjust the gap to your liking.

They can also, once you've found the gap that's best for you & your horn, solder the sleeve on, making it a one piece again if you don't happen tolike the way a "cut for sleeves" mpc behaves. Check out the website ... http://www.bobreeves.com

Michael

I agree, Slip.Bob is the one to call.

The guys at Reeves will tell you that the best gap is the "one that works". I have found that for most stock Bach trumpets, I get the best result with a #5 shank. Like Michael said, get a Reeves mouthpiece cut for sleeves, try severl sleeve sizes. Wehn you find the one that works, Bob will solder it on to the shank.

Mike,

I get the best results with a #5 shank on my Scodwell trpt's. But then again 'we' have discussed another great lead trpt player in LV who digs a 3.5 shank ... I don't think he's had his soldered from sleeved to a solid shank ... but if you heard him play, you wouldn't switch a thing!

"Horneymikey" knows his stuff. So, take it to heart, and experiment wisely!
