I've seen that old clip before of Bobby Hackett, Charlie Shavers and Doc joining Steve, who plays some fairly decent notes. As before, the highlight for me was Shavers excitement and Bobby's always musical choice of notes. It may be an indication of my age but the high notes, the blazing speeds and technique of the players most listened to these days always make me yearn to hear Bobby Hackett and Chet Baker. Shavers could make you cry with his ballad playing after blazing through some other piece.

Great clip from the best days of television. Thanks for posting.
I loved that horn Doc was playing. Does anyone know what model that was?
