| Jon is a beast. I've heard him live twice. Once was back in 73-74 with Thad and Mel. I also saw him at SUNY Purchase about 6 years ago fronting a big band. He didn't play a whole lot as he chose to feature many band members. When he did play he was just incredible, his control is amazing. His upper register is well known but he has so much control when playing up there. I regret not walking over to speak with him after the show, he was sitting at the piano watching the audience file out. My wife was not feeling too well that night so we left as soon as the concert ended. |
