This is a story about Maurice Andre and Clark Terry.
Many years ago I was preparing to go to Reagan Airport in D.C. to pickup Clark Terry. I opened my Nissan hatchback and the key broke off in the lock. I was eventually able to borrow a friend's car. I was late getting to the airport and Clark was waiting outside. I could tell he wasn't happy about the wait. I apologized and explained everything. He's a good guy and understood.
We had a nice conversation in the car. I asked him to verify a story about when Maurice Andre did a clinic in NYC and all the top trumpet players were there. Someone asked Andre who his favorite trumpet players are. He immediately pointed to Clark Terry. Clark said yes that happened. He and Andre had become friends when he was in Paris some years ago. He then went on to talk about what a great player Andre is.
