I've noticed these devices all over the place. Do these Breath Exerciser things really increase your air power, as advertised, or is it a gimmick. I can see myself driving to work with one of these things in my mouth . . . everyone would think I'm having an asthma attack!! |

Check out: http://www.windsongpress.com/use/Use_Devices.htm for brief explanations on how to use many of the breathing devices popularized by Arnold Jacobs.
FWIW, I've tried most of them over the years (not the Powerlung, however) and the most useful is still my homemade breathing bag (a couple inches of PVC pipe, a plastic shopping bag and a rubber band).
Hope this helps,

The devices may work, but I find that running is best for me. I do the Claude Gordon breathing exercises (explained in "Brass Playing is No Harder Than Deep Breathing") for a couple miles. Give it a try!
