Hi all,
I know this has been adressed before, but I would like to know which mics you have had successes with recording live brass with.
Thanks very much in advance, and apologies for making you repeat info! |

I've used an Audio-Technica AT822 Stereo mic with my Sony Mini Disc Recorder for about two years now. Easy to use since it has it's own power source (AA Battery - no phantom power needed) and great quality. The stereo separation is terrific and the low roll off switch enables you to avoid too much low end interference. _________________ -Mike

I'm having problems locating a minidisc recorder. Does anyone have a web site to point me to? Sharp or Sony. Thanks. |

I use a small Behringer mini-mixer with mine so I'm able to use just about any type of mike I need; condenser, dynamic, etc... _________________ Jay S.

Skip, do a yahoo search for electronics stores in your area. I would use the search chain <<+minidisc +online +retail>> and then check 'em all out. There are several really large "email retailers" in North America who handle these things. Many of the electronics chain stores handle them as well. |

Thanks Tootsall,
That seems to have worked. I had tried Google searches for MD recorders, Sharp, Sony, etc. with very limited success. I'd read (here) how others really liked the Sharp MD-MT80, and Sharp MD-MT90CS, but had not had much luck in finding them. Thanks. |

I'm using a Sharp MD-MS721W with the Audio Technica AT822 and get great results. Any of the major electronics supply stores should carry a variety of minidisc recorders - Best Buy, Future Shop, or even Sears. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. |

I've gotta agree on the Audio Technica recommendation. I got a nifty little weatherproff box with preamp, stereo level controls, and up to 50db boost from http://www.soundprofessionals.com/ or 1 800 213 3021
Recommend giving them a call and they will hook you up with what you need. Ask for Chris, he's the owner, and really hooked me right up. |

My firt mini disc was my best. The Sharp MD-MT 15. It's considered large now but it's simple and works well. You can pick up used ones on ebay for around $60 or so. |
