The conversation in the “tight neck” topic on Fundamentals developed very nicely and brought in ideas from Bill Adam, Caruso, and the Chicago School. Jim Thompson’s Buzzing Basics book is also in the mix (which touches on breath attacks, crescendo – decrescendo – SLS exercises, etc.), so it represents a lot of good content from the various “schools” of thought. If you’re interested, please have a look:

If you want any insight into how the physiology of the bodyand tension relates to playing, check out this book that Herseth likes.

Michael,
Thanks for the reference. I really enjoy reading books of this type. There is a book by some other Jacob's students that I finished recently entitled Master Your Mind, Master Your Instrument - Brass Wind Artistry (I believe by McDunn and Seversin). I will probably look into your book as well based on your affiliation with the "Chicago School".
I've been to Ravina for some wonderful evening concerts/picnics in the past. What a fantastic playing situation!
Thanks! _________________ Derek Reaban
