I was thinking about having a 1960's Conn 5a or Conn 76a cornet completely electroplated with Nickel.

That would actually be in keeping with the Nickel plating that completely covers the Connstellations and covers the valve clusters on Victors in the 1960's.

I read a post somewhere here in TH which said that Nickel plating is fairly cheap.

Who should I send it to?
How much would it cost?
How long would it take?

I assume that "free" and "it will be ready yesterday" is too much to hope for?

Nickel plating will cost about the same as silver, but you'll have the added expense of lacquer on top of that.

I had Tom Green (Green's Buffing) nickel plate a Connstellation (think it was a 28A) for me several years ago. It came out fantastic, but was not cheap by any means. Figure $400-600, depending on any prep work (or repairs) needed, plus the cost of plating and labor.
I also had him do a 36B in complete silver, IIRC.
I greatly appreciated his work, and the result was stunning.
(I never cared for the multi-color look on Connstellations, but maybe that's just me.)
