Thanks for the kind words! The book is getting great reviews from the players who have received it. My purpose in writing it is to give players the concepts to advance their playing. Too much of the time we have all been taken in by the "snake oil" methods that have no practical application for the player. You will not find that with this book.
Best,
Alan Wise

Got Alan's book last week and found 2 or 3 things in there that have proved very helpful.
The 4-space E exercise is quite an eye opener!
And the golf references made a lot of sense, too.
The set-up/horn position sequence is valuable as well- well worth the price of the book.
Kudos, Alan! Continued success!!

Got mine and it's well worth the presidents. Lotta tips I haven't seen in other books and, trust me, I've got 'em all. Thanks, Alan! _________________ Jim Hatfield

hi guys
does anyone have an idea yet about how long it takes to get the high E sounding with the E Exercise?
I,ve been doing it for about 3 weeks and i hear a lot of harmonics, just no octave yet.I also find it very tiring.I try doing it without right hand and even left hand palm grip.I guess my aperture is adjusting,i just wondered how long it should normally take to adjust and start producing the upper octave harmonic?
cheers gospel. |

I too have been working on this for many weeks, I can hear other notes in the sound but not the octave ....yet! this being said, just by doing the long tone and focusing deeply into the sound and hearing the harmonics I have improved. I will stick with it! _________________ Freedom lies not in conforming to the world's expectations or even realizing what we take to be our deepest wishes; it lies in following the call in our lives. |

Thanks for all the kind words about "Wise Words". Keep playing the e exercise very softly and the overtone one octave up will appear. remember this is a physical exercise!
If your interested in ordering "Wise Words" as a Christmas gift make sure your order is in by Sunday, Dec 19th in order to assure delivery for that special Christmas gift!
Best,
Alan Wise

Alan, thanks for the book. And yes, the E exercise is great thing. It's improving the harmonics in my playing and helping with range nicely. Frankly, soft playing in general helps, particularly when I listen for those octaves. If I don't hear them, I've been "resetting" on the fourth space E and it gets me back. Lately, I've been getting split lead chores in most of the bands I'm in, and this was just in time.
For what it's worth, I recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their sound and to get back to proper playing/practice habits.
Best to you this holiday season,
ed |

What ever happened to Allan? I purchased his book years ago from his Website and he left a nice personal message in there. However, his Website seems to be down now and the book seems to be not available from anywhere else. |
