Great video of a recording session in Europe. And there are some neat interactions and interviews.
Including Maynard discussing the experiments he was involved in with Dr. Timmothy Leary at Harvard with the LSD tests.

Check out his warm up. Couple scales, some back stretches...and boom. Time to hit.
He still sounds so awesome at this stage. What a neat find. Glad the poster shared this. Such a cool time to have been in the music business. |

Very odd how at right about the 30min mark Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique is spliced-in, right as they get to the jam session. Would like to know more about this to understand whether there was a licensing thing keeping it on YouTube, if the original audio throughout those areas of the clip was lost or degraded, or...if this was an idea for 'good editing' on behalf of the Dutch producers...
Thanks for sharing!

I noticed the splicing as well. It seems it happened every time Ben Webster was playing. I wonder if there was some licensing issue as well.
However great vid and such a cool time in history. I want a time machine. |

Beyond the awesome playing and the short conversation about Harvard University really struck my curiosity.
Maynard and Timmothy Leary were apparently very close. So much that Leary was a family friend and surrogate babysitter for Maynard's children. I did some reading and those Harvard and private tests and they were fascinating. I had no idea that Leary had been in so much trouble with the US Fed and even did prison time, and more wild at one point escaped from prison at one point.
Maynard had a wild and exciting life. Truly one of a kind. I also saw there are some of those great famous jam session albums that were shared on YouTube:
