We have a "Kastulation" copper 38B replica leadpipe in stock for instances like this. Please phone 978-823-0580 between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm EST for specifics. Thanks! _________________ James Becker

This I sent my 60b Conn to Josh Landress in New Jerk for a replacement leadpipe. After repair the horn played beautifully and felt like a perfect match to he original. He has a huge # of horns come thru his shop and may have access to some original or other options for you. He did a very good job on the leadpipe for my Conn and I recommend him. I have also had very good work done by Charlie Melk on a very difficult set of valves on a very rare trumpet so I could also highly recommend him. I haven't used all the guys mentioned on the lists but I imagine all are good or would get run out of town.
If you live close to a reputable guy I would recommend playing some of the different pipes available. I'm old school and never knew there were options, but a leadpipe can change blow a lot and sound to a lesser degree. I had a Lawler built and Roy had some braces that allowed me to try different pipes, I imagine others do to and you may end up with something not at all like stock. I just bought a new Eclipse Enignma at ITG and got 3 different pipes and think I will use at least 2 regularly. ANyway good luck. There is a guy on eBay with a store called brassyknowles and he has a huge stock of old stuff, he might be a good call as he does lots of repairs.

I wouldn't suggest your not weighing advice from others, but it might be helpful to say that Jim Becker put a leadpipe on my Benge and did a recondition job on my 38 as well, and both were done superbly. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Sorry I dont want to seem like I'm stepping on Jim just letting OP know about the people I know who could help.
Isn't Jim the guy who makes Bachs sound good?
IMO that makes him extraordinary!

Thanks Rod, IMHO Bach instruments sound pretty great to begin with. Our aim is to make them play better without sacrificing their characteristic sound quality.
As for the Conn replica pipe, I'm fairly confident the playing qualities of the OP's Connstellation will remain intact provided the critical dimensions are maintained. So far I've had no issues with the Kanstul-Conn replica pipes we've used in the past.
I hope this is helpful. _________________ James Becker

Opinions vary widely on that Jim, but the 2 horns I have heard that you worked were night and day in a very good way and I am a long time committed Bach hater. It kills me to admit it but I would play either. I had one of Kansuls SIMA labeled horns and the quality was very very good for a mass manufacturer so I can believe their LP copy would be very close.
BTW I found a maker for my silver bell and I am having a horn made now. PM me and Ill tell you about it if interested, it should be quite the weapon!
