Hello fellow trumpeters,
I'm wondering if any of you have experience with fitting a Benge 5 bell flugelhorn in the Protec Vax Trumpet Combo Case with Wheels. For full disclosure I'd also be putting a Benge MLP in this case as well. I'd like to know that the Flugelhorn will fit before I make this purchase.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks in advance,

Get it! My Benge 5 (love it) fits fine. Essentially the flugel sits on the bottom of the case and the trumpet sits on padding on top of the flugel. I've used this case and horn combination for years with no problem. There's ample protection for both horns. I also put a bubble mute in a Crown Royal bag in the maw of the Benge. The fit is such that the mute doesn't jostle and dent the bell. |

GizB,
Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. I need a double case so bad but had some concerns. This helps a lot.
Thanks again,

that is not how mine was set up. the flugel was leaning on a wedge piece of foam, and then the bell was at an angle to the side. It barely fit, and not a lot of room for anything else either. The trumpet is separated by a vertical piece of padding and the bottom of the casings almost touch the lower branch of the bell. if it was jostled a bit I'm sure the two would hit each other pretty hard.
also, the wheels on that case are low quality and not user replacable.
i took the insides out and put them is a nanuk shell. great case, but the basic arrangement issues still apply. Some flugels won't fit, but that is the nature of try to get a trpt/flugel case in carry-on dimensions _________________ Mouthpiece Maker

Thanks homebilly and lipshurt
I guess I have to venture out and purchase the case and see if I can make it work safely. But not before understanding the return policy of the company I purchase it from.
Thanks again for posting.
