Hi Guys,

First post here. I recently acquired a used Getzen 700 Special. Seems to play well. The silver plate shows quite a bit of wear. Is this considered a beginner horn?

I was just going to sell it. I got it for $200. Would it be fair to think I could get $350 out of it in your opinions?

Thanks, Nick [/img]

If I may offer a couple of hints.

First, don't tell people how much you paid and then ask for nearly double.

Second, you might want to check out the recent discussions in the Horns forum. Some of them discuss this exact make/model.

BTW, selling and purchasing horns in the forums is prohibited. After five posts you can post in the marketplace though.

I love my Getzen. Hopefully you will have good luck selling it.

Thank you both. I will look into other sections for proper posting.

Good point on the purchase/sell information. I guess I am just curious if I overpaid or got a fair deal on my purchase. I guess I'll know soon enough - I was just going to put it on ebay and see where it went. I'd love to keep it but don't have room for more horns.

Have a great day.

$200 for any decent horn is an acceptable deal at the very least. Student line trumpet sell for roughly that around here, usually. There are exceptions, but that the general going rate.

The student line for Getzen is their 300/400 series. They're also good horns.

It isn't their top of the line by a long shot, but Getzen's are very well made and that horn probably plays good and clear. With any old horn, if you get your money out of it you have done well. If you know what you want to move on to and you make 50 or a hundred extra bucks it is a bonus. Tons of good used horns out there. I just found one in the marketplace for $550 and it is like new. I feel very lucky. Good Luck.

I sold one for that price range. I've seen people ask $750, but not seen any sell at that price. Good, solid horn. Curious how the OP fared?
