Hi.
I am trying to understand the system for about two weeks now.
I really want to get into it, but no success at all. No sound from the horn. I really don't get how one should make a sound without much strain... please help! _________________ Getzen Eterna 900s

I am so frustrated, as my neck wants to explode trying to ge the air through the tongue/upper lip/upper teeth apperture. I know it sould be all relaxed, but can't get anything out.
I am an amateur trumpet player and the reason I want to get into TCE is because I have very crooked front teeth and playing was never easy to me. I play for about 19 years, and did mostly self theached me all I know. I have a high C/D above the staff but with a lot of pressure and strain. My overall sound is nice (I am pleased with it). My normal mouthpiece is a Warburton 2D/#7 bb wich I like a lot, but for this TGE study I am using a Schilke 11Ax wich I have in my arsenal, being the smallest I own now. I can play the Schilke with my normal embouchure, so no need to blame the mouthpiece. I just use it as I understood that TCE goes hand in hand with small pieces.
There's no trumpet teachet in my area, and no TCE instructor for sure. I couldn't afford lessons anyway, so that's pretty complicated for me.
Please help me getting started! _________________ Getzen Eterna 900s

Call or email Jerry and set up a lesson. Or ping Kyle (moderator of this forum). In my limited experience a little introductory help live makes all the difference.
You may also have to wait a little longer until people have time to respond. _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

Many players have figured out MSC/TCE exclusively on their own - even before Mr Callet started to study it. Others learned it through Mr Callet's books and DVD. In my experience, however, most players need direct one-on-one guidance. This is especially true for students that have been taught in the traditional manner, i.e. more bad habits to unlearn, both physical and mental.
It's pretty clear, Bot, that you are like most of us and will need some lessons from an accomplished MSC teacher. You could work with Mr. Callet by phone. Or maybe you could do some skype lessons with Ralph Salamone, Jerome's long time and highly accomplished student.

I wonder what the long-distance phone rates would be from Romania to New York City. |

Hi botahoratiu, I think I have your email address from the messages you sent via my website. I'll get in touch and see what I can do to get you started off. Just from reading your post I can see there are a couple of things that I could help you with. _________________ UK-based professional trumpeter.

This site is probably not the best source of information. If you have a genuine interest in learning about Superchops/TCE then you should take a lesson. There are a number of people out there teaching these ideas/techniques.
For now, if you want to do some research I recommend the following websites:
super-chops.com
tonguecontrolled.info
tce-studio.com
TongueControlled.Info has a links page where you can find other websites, interviews, recordings, links to the Facebook group, YouTube... etc... Enjoy. _________________ UK-based professional trumpeter.
