|
|
I’ve just bought a Shure dynamic microphone. Run through zoom u24 to iPad. Recorded using GarageBand.
I have to have the bell almost on the mic with gain 9 or 10 to get a sound and even then not very loud
Am I doing something wrong? |

Screenshot the iPad while playing into it to show me how much signal is getting to the iPad.
This interface has direct monitoring and DAW monitoring. It would be easy to set it so that you get very little signal to your cans, but the signal to the tablet should still be good. Have you recorded and played back your attempt and still find it is very quiet?
If so you need to diagnose:
Leads/connections, mic and interface for faults.
9/10 on the bell with a dynamic should clip. In fact I guess a gain of 6 with the mic 1-3 feet back should be sufficient. I don't know what mic you have - what model?

I’ve dismantled foe the evening! I recorded and played back it’s a Shure pga57. At 6 or 7 i have to strain my ears to hear it. The input bar shows a twitch at the bottom when I I’m blasting a high note |

Head wrecked. I’ve connected it to iPad and to a computer. I’ve it through protools and it is still showing a really faint signal. I’ve used it with smart music and I need to slide it almost all the way to the left to hear it at all over the backing track. I’ve also plugged the headphones directly in for play back. It’s defibitely the input that is faint. |

I'd try another mic. And try this one on a PA using your voice. _________________ veery715
