Lips drying out while playing

I play on a wet setting and I believe that moistened lips aid a good vibration and flexibility. However I've noticed that as I play and take mouth breaths my lips become drier and drier with each successive breath.

This makes playing difficult where I'll start out well but my lips dry out towards the end of an etude and things fall apart.

I'd appreciate any advice or technique to combat this.
