|
|
The hard case I got with the 928 cornet is really beat up and well used. The latches are barely functional.
I am in search for a replacement hard case to protect the instrument. When I was searching online I stumbled on the Jakob Winter JW-771 case.
Does anyone know if this will fit a 928? Of if anyone has a suggestion on a hard case replacement that would fit well I would appreciate any ideas.

Thanks! |

This case appears from the pics that it would fit your 928. But why not contact the maker to verify? In fact, I would not be surprised if this company doesn't supply cases directly to Besson for their cornets, as it appears to be identical to the original. |

If the latches are a problem you could find a luggage repair shop and have them replaced. I've done this on a few old cases. The shop may be able to fix other problems as well. |

I did contact the company. For whatever reason they said it would not fit. Maybe something was lost in the translation. To me it looks exactly like the case that comes with new instruments. So that is why I was reaching out to the community.
What is strange is that the case that comes from Besson is called the BE771. The case from Jakob Winter is called JW-771. Hmmmmm
I have thought about just having the latches fixed. There are other issues with the case. The inside is falling apart and the corner protectors on the case are very rusty. I believe the person that had the horn before me lived near the ocean and the salty air did a number on the case. |

Hi mncorrado
The case you picture is the exact same case to the one supplied with the latest Sovereign, but just with a black exterior rather than burgundy. I presume that Jacob Winter make the case for Besson.
Please however don't order one based on what I say as I haven't tried this cornet in this case, and there is a possibility that Jacob Winter have slightly changed the size/shape of the cornet slot for the Besson model, in a way that it isn't possible to tell from the pictures.
All the best

It seems to be the exact same case. I will order from a company with an easy return policy. |

Could it be that you used the tern "fit" which, I think, in German doesn't mean the English "fit" but "physically in shape"? In German, you want "passt". (Passt es? == Does it fit?) _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird
