Hey this is a contuning post to my slide problem.....my 1st and 3rd valve slides work good now that a greased them good...but im using a thicker grease the schilke stuff my band director has a Bach Strad he said he uses that same stuff with a drop of valve oil.....well that doesnt do anything for me....it actually is worse then just straight grease....u think if i used something thinner...say....Superslick Trombone cream that would work and make them really fast? |

dude,
here's your answer and this is what i do on my Bach Strad. (i have only done this on my third slide though but i am sure it should be fine on both) use VASELINE with a drop of Valve oil and NO regular slide grease whatsover. it works beautifully and your slide will be lightning fast. |

Superslick is great for having slides work good (I have two trombone players in the family), but it costs a bundle. My personal solution is to clean off the slides good and just use a thin line of valve oil on the slide. I can usually get away with re-applying once every other day or so, and the slides are lightning fast. It's a touch wasteful, but it works beautiful and is a LOT cheaper than superslick. |

On my tuning slide I use Fat Cat slide lube; on the fast slides I use Fat Cat slide lube with a couple of drops of Fat Cat oil. Seems to work great. _________________ Come back player, realizing I'm not as good as I remember...

Click on the link in the Blue Juice thread. You can get a free sample of the Fat Cat slide grease too. _________________ All murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets.
