Experementing with valve oil

hey guys im gonna be experementing with valve oil to find which one i like the best...usually i just use whatevers around....I dont have to like clean my instrument each and everytime i use a diff oil right? i can just wipe the valves off and start with a new oil right?

Depends on the oils. Naturals and synthetics don't mix well; BiNak doesn't mix with anything. And, within groups there's still likely to be those that are incompatible.

If you want to get the full truth in your experimenting, rinse the valve and casing with soap and water to remove any old oil. Just my opinion....good luck. Has anyone ever used Fat Cat valve oil? Let me know of your experiences on the best oil for tight valves such as Schilke valves.

Yes I have tried the fat cat (free sample I'm almost ashamed to say) and would have bought some but for comeing across Polards. Both worked well with the Schilke b7 I tried out. I have kept using the Polards on my Bach Strad, I didn't take to the Schilke although it was a lovely horn.
