Hi,
Bought this thing for playing around with harmonics etc really just for fun. It has been sitting in someone's attic for a long time. It would be great if anyone has more information on this (type of) horn, as I am interested in historical context etc.
I note that for a natural trumpet it is quite small. It fits a cornet mouthpiece but not perfectly, I guess because the leadpipe is not as conical.The bell is two part.

I wonder if the instrument you're talking about actually is a natural posthorn? |

BTW the Navy Band in DC used to have a posthorn soloist named Frank Scimonelli. He was a fine player, and could project his sound into the surrounding States. |
