So last night a few of my scout buddies and I were digging around in the old troop supply closet. We came across the old troop bugle (It is one the worst things i've ever played). But it had a interesting mouthpiece that resembled the old original Jet Tones. It fits in my Jupiter and its quite nice except that its very shallow and has almost no rim. I was wondering if anyone else had given a bugle mpc. a run in a trumpet? _________________ Jupiter 1100s

Hard to say if it would be ok or not, don’t forget that the gap (between the end of the mouthpiece shank and the start of the leadpipe) can have a tremendous affect on how a horn plays. The chances of an old bugle mouthpiece being a good fit are pretty slim. It probably was made just as something to go with that bugle, not necessarily as a decent mouthpiece.
It sounds like it’s probably best suited as a paperweight, but as long as you dont scar up your mouthpiece receiver or leadpipe, it’s probably a harmless experiment.
