To the right of the result in google, you will see a green drop-down arrow. Click that arrow and then click "Cached". That will bring up the page as it appeared before the site crashed.

Same here, Stradbrother and I was on there for years.
It got very clique-y with a few member seeming to be in love with their writings no matter if it had anything to do with the original subject.
Still, I hope it comes back.

Well. Too bad its gone. I learned a lot there as a comeback player. But many of the same folks here and from the looks of it, others who know a lot.

The good thing about a new board, is you can tell the same stories over again without everyone rolling their eyes.

I don't know how to do that. If I do a Google search on terms like "Martin Committee" it returns numerous results from Trumpetmaster but if I click on them I get the same error as if I try to go to trumpetmaster.com. Can you explain to me what you mean by using "google cache"?

Do your Google search for something on TrumpetMaster.com. This will return a list of items. The second line for each item is the URL. At the end of this second line is a downward-pointing arrow. Click on that arrow to bring up a cached version of the link.

Another option is to go to one of the cached archives out there.
http://cachedview.com/

However, I'm unable to bring up the full cached versions, and have to bring up the "Text-only version".

Y'all have fun over there at the new site. I'm not feeling like joining another trumpet forum at this time. Hopefully, TM will return, but if not, I'll just visit here from time to time and drop the occasional knowledge nugget when I have something worthwhile to contribute.

I always saw TM as more of a social community and TH as a more of a professional community - that being said, I hope TH stays this way.

I was on TM a ton, and never really understood some of the social climate - but whatever.
I think a lot of that had to do with the way it was moderated and since TM was an offshoot of TH, I think it tried hard to not be TH. To that end it succeeded, but at the cost of sometimes appearing to be just a frat house that drove off most of the female posters and those that did, posted less and less. The vision of the TM "replacement" seems to be an incorporation of the best of both sites without the shortcoming both have. TH can seem to be a lonely place because there's not a lot of personal feedback. One dual member told me to be prepared to be ignored and be confronted even when good info is presented. Who am I dealing with here? No reputation points, no simple way that I've found to tell a poster, "hey, I like/agree with that". TH really needs a like button. I'm still going to hang out and glean what I can. Sometimes I feel like I'm talking into the wind.

Yes, TH has no "Like" button, and has no way to post pictures unless you host them from another site, which is a pain. And yes, you do get ignored here a lot. I'm a member of a couple cornet Facebook pages, so I get my cornet fix there... Trumpets, eh, they're just a necessary evil.

Like women?

Seriously, there were a couple of female trumpet players in my class way back when, who on their worst day, and my best day, could blow me away. Wasn't even close.

Or he won the lottery and no longer needs TM to feed his kids.

Could even be health related. I wish them the best. And thanks for years of information and enjoyment. Reading on TM is one of the things that got me to pick up the trumpet again. The other was the screaming Youtube videos of Louis Dowdswell;)

Absolutely. My understanding is that no one (include the moderators) has been able to contact MJ (the administrator). I hope he's okay.

I guess that depends on how you look at the history of the board. As one of the founding members of the TM forum, and one of the original moderators, the board started off a lot differently than what it became, and IMO the changes with the new ownership were not actually better.

There was an effort being made to turn it into a premium site with forums dedicated to name/marque players from various places - we had a few really top notch professionals from the orchestral and commercial music worlds with their own forum spaces, but those of us who started the board, and who were (IMO) doing a good job of helping to run it were unceremoniously dumped.

I dunno - it seems lately that for the most part, the online forum as a medium of information sharing is becoming passe in favor of other social media outlets, chiefly FB and Instagram.

I still swing back here from time to time, but overall I find it to be the same stuff we dealt with back in the early 2000s, rehashed over and over with the newer crops of young, aspiring players:

** What horn should I get?
** What mouthpiece should I get to improve range/sound.
** How do I player higher/louder?
** How can I increase my endurance?
** How can I improve my sound?
** How do you play lip trills/shakes?
** My chops are degrading but I don't know why - BTW, we're in the middle of marching season.
** What magic bullet item is going to make me awesome as a trumpet player?
** etc.

And most of those posts are answered with the always popular, "get a teacher!!!!!"

It is what it is.

True enough, but there is ALWAYS something to learn, something new is always added. Glad we have Trumpetboards.com now too!
