It's their project but you wonder why they didn't hire this fella, who seems to have a lot more of his likeness..

The movie came and went from the theaters in CT in less than a week. We rented it on YouTube.
No coherence whatsoever. |

I haven't seen the movie and can't say whether it's bad or good, but if it came and went that fast, it suggests more that 95% of the movie-going public is not interested in jazz and those who are interested are out of the habit of going to movies.
Frankly, I'm surprised that anyone in Hollywood would be interested in investing in a movie about jazz. Making money in Hollywood is a sure thing when they make a bang'em up, shoot'em up movie with lots of car crashes, pyrotechnics, and scantily-clad women. |

It was a vanity project from Dan Pritzker. He didn't care about making money. He already has about $2 billion.
He supposedly wanted to make it an allegory "about the soul of America." But there was nothing to hold it together.
It came to a mall multiplex here, which was puzzling. Miles Ahead played at a couple art cinema houses and I thought Bolden would certainly be more suited to them.
It cost us $6.99 on YouTube. Even a bad movie is worth $6.99.
Oh, and it had plenty of scantily clad and not-clad women... |
