What are your favorite brass quintet processionals that are not Pomp and Circumstance?

I am managing a student group (University players) that needs to play two different processionals. One for students that will definitely be looped a bunch and a shorter one for faculty.

In the past I’ve had success with Bankelsangerlieder, Pezel Intrade (from King edition of Three Pieces) and Verdi’s Triumphal March. Looking for other ideas and suggestions.

Thank you in advance!

Adam

In the past, we have used the first piece in the Verne Reynolds Centone V, then Canzona Bergamasca, repeated ad nauseam. These work well because they are well-orchestrated and there are many cadence points in each where you can stop.

Te Deum/Charpentier works pretty well.

Of course Clarke, Stanley. etc. Mouret Rondeau would likely work, I've also used Bach "My Spirit Be Joyful" once for two tpts and organ but ITG kicked out a Brass 5 version yeara ago that I still have on file if you need,

Also just about anything in a hymn-type setting should work Good luck!.

And Jay's about the last word on anything, so check him out above. Can't get any more reasonable, price-wise, and everything's great...

There's a great collection of processionals titled "Wedding and Ceremonial Music" arranged by Thomas Campbell and published by Kendor Music (1983)

Includes Clarke Voluntary, Wagner Bridal March, Bach Bist du bei mir, Mendelssohn Wedding March, and Clarke Trumpet Tune.

Very effective, easy to put together, and written repeats which allow some variation and some rest.

5 thumbs up
