Just want to share my experience with this particular cornet.
And to qualify my experience I’ll list my cornet that I have and play
40’s Blessing Artist (long model, American wrap, straight bell tail, .485 bore)
40’s Holton 29 (same as above with a .459 bore)
80’s Holton 602 (same as above) actually have 3 different ones from different eras
1909 Holton New proportions short model
1911 Holton New proportions long model w/SC bell
80’s Holton 605 long model w/SC bell
And a few more but the idea is I’ve played a few to compare
I bought my Brasspire from Trent last year and have been using it exclusively for brass banding ever since. It is made in China
The fit and finish are quite good-could be better but it could also cost a lot more than I paid for it.
Intonation is very good (I play with a Wick 4)
Blow is good, maybe a little stuffy around A above the staff but that could be me
The tuning slides work very well although the trigger mechanisms are a little janky but serviceable
It is quite heave compared to a Schilke XA1
Valve action is superb with a very smooth feel.
Last year I played front row and blended quite well, this year on back row the blend is also quite good
Sounds like a BBB style cornet should
I’m very happy with this little gem and I believe anyone looking for a quality budget priced cornet would also be happy.
Just a small review of a new company’s offering so people can make a better informed decision.
Hopefully I’ve given some good info. Please let me know if there are any questions I could answer since the only other review is on a site that now doesn’t exist _________________ a few different ones |
