Hi, this work (from 1930) calls for Harmon mute. Stem in or out? I'm going to say in to match the harmon mute sounds in jazz during this time. What say you?
Also, the symphony calls for fiber mute. Do you think this is the vintage straight mute with a wood bottom and cardboard tube? What do y'all use? _________________ Getzen 800DLX cornet

We just played it here, and I used stem in - I thought the sound was more appropriate for that time-period. A couple of decades later and the stems would have been out.
For the fiber mute, we used the Tromba Lyric. Don't overthink it. _________________ Jim Wilt
