I have both. I like the King better: It is lighter and more comfortable to hold, the valves are better (valves were rebuilt on both), All notes play very close to frequency, Low C# is way better, its easier to play. My music teacher agrees. The King is brighter which I would prefer more dark.
All in all I do intend to play both. The 36A is a gorgeous horn. Its close to mint.
Theoretically Conn actually wanted to have a more dark tone which I am not sure I buy. The conn has 2 spit valves before entering the 3rd valve.
Mr White (King Owner) bought the largest set of tuning bells in the world. He was a fanatic for acoustics. It showed in his products.

Its unlikely I will find a better cornet (for me) _________________ Too many Old Cornets to Count |

Please, I am in no way trying to slam your topic but I watch too much TV and I thought you could have like, "32 measures of no holds barred playing for the Vintage Cornet championship of the world." I have a King from 69-70, and when I was way younger played a couple 36a conns. I think you are right, the King probably more cornet and the conn a little more trumpet/cornet. Interesting topic _________________ "There are two sides to a trumpeter's personality,
