I’m very sorry to report that we lost another industry icon today. Jerome Callet passed away this morning in NY. He suffered a severe heart attack 6 months ago and struggled to recover. He passed away peacefully today, age 90.
One of the most passionate and progressive minds in the history of our instrument, Jerry’s innovations in trumpets, mouthpieces, and embouchure are already legendary. As a teacher, his boundless enthusiasm and creativity helped many thousands of brass players around the world. And his huge personality always kept us laughing too.
A memorial service in NYC is being planned for the near future. I’ll update TH as I learn more. |

I knew Jerry, and spoke a few times over the years.
He visited my home in Ohio in 1990.
We shared the admiration for Harry James.
When he saw me play, he told "Don't mess with anything, you sound
Great!"

I play a LEGENDS HJ .26 mouthpiece, and a vintage Parduba 5* mouthpiece. |

Thank you for posting, Kyle. A sad day indeed.
Jerry changed my whole way of thinking about embouchure. I am forever grateful to have met and worked with him.
RIP.
