Perhaps I read the post wrong. I interpreted as saying practicing has no bearing on high range and I don't see how you can have developed embouchure muscles and high range without practicing. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

If you can't play 100 As a day then you are not ready to fool around with High C.
Practice strong all summer and you can change things. _________________ Clint 'Pops' McLaughlin

Sometimes, high range and power have nothing to do with practice. Different matters... |

That might be completely true for 'some' specific people.
But for most people it is better to do thorough practice of the entire set of 'basic good technique' that is the foundation of trumpet playing.

PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

i insisted on the fact that this teacher's ability was unique according to what i personally know and have seen.
i said also that screaming for 30 seconds is one thing, being a pro lead trumpet player or classical soloist is another thing.
a sprinter will run faster than a footballer, and can score many goals in certain circumstances, but he'll not be necessarily able to become a pro footballer if he's just able to run, and not dribble, nor control the ball, and have no tactical abilities...
strength is only one item in the whole frame, even if i think and know it's a fundamental item |

There really isn't a fast remedy. Practice a lot, listen to great players (in multiple styles, not just screech trumpet), and take some lessons with a solid teacher(s).
Most of the quick fixes and short cuts will cause long term issues and/or compromises in other aspects of your playing. |
