I would appreciate any tips on non-pro video gear to record a community band, to obtain good results of video and sound, if that's even possible. _________________ Michael Greenberg

Go Pro work extremely well. I’ve just received a DVD of a concert recorded entirely on Go Pros by a guy who was a cameraman for the BBC. They can be controlled wirelessly by an iPad. The concert had 300 choir and 270 orchestra. _________________ "Nearly as good as I need to be. Not nearly as good as I want to be".

It’s good to know what can get good results, but I think this part is pretty key. |

I’ve gotten good results two ways-
1. Record the audio with a Zoom H6 and synchronize it with video from a consumer grade high definition camcorder. It’s an extra step or two but not really very hard to do.
2. Recently I acquired a Zoom Q8. It’s essentially a Zoom H5 with a camcorder grafted on to it. It uses digital zoom instead of optical zoom, which isn’t as nice as optical zoom. _________________ Richard Ashmore
