Regarding the K+M "in bell' stand. True Story:
We had a customer come into the store whose case had been run over by a car. They had a K+M stand stored in the bell of the horn and because of that the bell was easily saved and the customer saved a ton of money. With out the stand the bell would have been history! I wouldn't have believed if I hadn't seen it!!

Yes, the thought of the K&M stand protecting the bell had crossed my mind;however, I don't wish to test it.

Can't understand how it could hurt anything to have the little stand stored inside the bell either. I have used them for years with no mishaps. I have a big Hamilton for the bandstand though so I do not have to reach so far to set the horn down.

As long as the stand was secured well, & tightly, within the bell, and the case was never subjected to any jarring motion, then the risk of bell damage may be very small.
But if it were not secure, and/or the case was jarred, contrecoup type damage to the bell would be likely - IMHO.

Dave, Somehow I knew this question was coming. After watching the TV's police video's I figured if the robbers put pantyhose over their heads, why not....oh well, you get the picture. Kinda like the pocket Popeil fishing rod. It's there for emergencies.
I always have the nylon on my stands to keep the small, slight scratches from appearing. The insides of my bells are clean and scratch free. I polish the horn with nylons.. shine my shoes, keep extra mpcs in them, mutes in them and nothing in the case touches each other.
PS I think the idea for the panty hose over the head came from Hints from Heloise in one of her "How to make extra cash" columns. (Smiley face) sic

I was afraid of that. At least it's not some sick sexual thing! _________________ Schilke '60 B1 -- 229 Bach-C/19-350 Blackburn -- Lawler TL Cornet -- Conn V1 Flugel -- Stomvi Master Bb/A/G picc -- GR mpcs

Thanks everyone for all of your advice....I will have to spaek to my wife for some pantyhoes!
I ordered my Schilke from Dillons and it was meant to arrive mid November but still no sight (or sound!) of it. When It arrives I will let you know how I get on with it.
Cheers and Happy Christmas!
