Hi guys. Haven't posted in this forum for quite awhile but hoping you can provide some help here. I just purchased a used 6310Z flugelhorn and for the life of me cannot find any valve numbers. I would think they would be engraved on the valve stem but cannot see any anywhere on the valves. Just dont want to mix them up. Thanks for any suggestions. |

On the top of the valve, like under the felt or guide? I've also seen them on the valve stem..?
...just set them in sequence if you remove them all at once _________________ Freelance Performer/Educator

They are under the valve guides.

Thanks. That just seems like a very awkward place to put the valve number. If I ever have to lift a valve guide to check the number is there only 1 way to fit it back on? Is it ok to remove a valve guide and put it back on? Thanks for all the help. |

The valves on Z flugels are bottom sprung, so it's the only place to put it. The valve guide takes up most of the top of the valve. The stems could be swapped with other valves. _________________ --Matt--

BTW the number 2 valve should line up with the valve ports when depressed. Obviously take the slide out. So you only have to switch the other two to get them in correctly.
I never have problems with valves being put in incorrectly. I take them out in order and leave them that way even while cleaning them.

Thanks for all the help. Great idea for the second valve. Pull the slide and make sure the ports line up when you press the valve down. Thanks again. |
