valve ports? I just gave my horns a bath and that's the only area I can't get clean. Is there anything else out there that works well on this area also?

Also, when you use CLR how long do you soak the valves?

I'm not sure about CLR but there is a product I can recommend which will almost certainly remove the offending black matter. Go to a well-stocked gun shop and ask for a product called Lead Buildup Wipe Away Gun Cleaning Cloth. This product easily removes unsightly black lead stains from the cylinders of revolvers. It comes in a large cloth but what you do is cut it into small useable patches maybe one inch square or so, and discard each patch after use. It leaves no scratches on my stainless steel guns, and therefore SEEMS non-abrasive enough to use on valves, but I am not guaranteeing this.

valvepimp I may have to give that a try. I've been using gun oil to coat the lead tube of my Benge for some time so I'd bet this cloth would work also. Thanks

Here here, I'm all for occasionally asking a question that was once answered. Exposes more of us to these issues, and gives other members the chance to update things based on experience.
