Hi. A little while back I decided to sell my 1964 Ambassador cornet, and look for a vintage pro cornet instead. It just so happens within about two weeks I found a 1941 Holton Model 29 cornet on EBay, with the seller asking for someone to "Make an Offer," so I did, and got it.
The horn is the "higher-end" version of that model, having brass with nickel trim, plus the top portions of its valves' block are nickel. It is a nice looking horn overall, with its lacquer being about 70% complete, and the remaining lacquer having toned a nice golden color. I haven't been able to really play it yet, as I need to get a Bach 1C cornet mp (I currently have one on the way, though, to deliver by the EOW), plus the horn needs a few minor repairs done to it, which I plan to have done this week.
Does anybody have experience playing this horn, or any advice to me regarding playing it? I have heard it is a great jazz horn. _________________ 1954 Holton Super Collegiate Trumpet (Yellow brass w/nickel silver bell flare, like the Olds Studio model)
